A Paramedic's Diary - THE BOOK

Right folks. TPD is being published in book form and will be out in October this year. The publisher, Monday Books, have already gone ahead with the pre-press stuff and you can find it on Amazon.co.uk, Play.com and Waterstones.co.uk (as well as other places I believe), where it can be pre-ordered if you are inclined to buy.

The title is 'A Paramedic's Diary - Life and Death in London' and the cover is yet to be confirmed, so I would like your feedback on it when you see it. You will also discover my name, of course...

The intention of the book is to reach a wider audience (and it doesn't hurt the finances either I have to say) it is NOT intended to glorify the job I do or to patronise patients or colleagues. It is about what I do and will serve as a record of my career. I have been published before but this is the first time I have written a book of this kind, so I am hoping it will all go well.

For the record, although my bosses know about this blog and the book, the London Ambulance Service is not officially involved in any way. The book is therefore a biographical work and nothing more. I will, of course, have added stories that I have never posted, as well as expanded thoughts and views.

:-)

Can I be the second to congratulate you - congratulations!
So you're not 'doing a Tom Reynolds' and publishing under a pseudonym then? Or even a Belle De Jour and maintaining total anonymity?
When working out the cover, don't do what Tom did and end up with a library picture of a St John vehicle on the front. I think he's still trying to live that one down...

Good luck, XF.

Great News!
My fave blog goes paperback :) Hope that I will be able to get a copy down here to Australia...

About a cover: I like the picture on the top of your current blog, simple and authentic. Something on that shot wouldn't go astray.
But then again, I'm open for everything else too.

Keep up the good work!

I decided to use my own name for the book. As for the cover, unfortunately that is up to the publisher but I have been passing on your collective feedback about the current design idea.

Thanks

I can't use any LAS related photographs I'm afraid as the book is my own work and not supported by my employers.

The publisher will decide on an ebook version. I will leave it to them I think :-)

Don't get a cold camping out for it - I'm sure you will find a copy around. I'm not quite selling Harry Potter here :-)

anon2 - you can call me Stuart, that's the correct spelling :-)
